Plan meals and groceries

Turn saved recipes into a dated plan and a useful weekly shopping list.

Add a planned meal

  1. Save a recipe in your collection first.
  2. Open Meal planner and select the week you want.
  3. Use the add control for a date and meal slot.
  4. Check the date and meal, choose a recipe, set the servings, and save the planned meal.

Each entry represents intended food on that date. Change the plan when your intentions change; record actual food separately when you eat it.

On a phone, swipe the weekly planner horizontally to reach the other days. The day columns stay wide enough to read. Check the visible date rather than assuming the first column is today.

Review planned versus eaten

A planned meal is not automatically added to your food log. When you eat it, use its logging action and confirm the actual portions. The same planned meal can have one linked food-log entry; edit that entry rather than trying to log the same plan twice.

If your day changes, direct food logging is available without a recipe or plan. Removing an entry from the meal plan is not the same as deleting a food entry you already recorded. See record what you ate.

Shop from the selected week

Open Groceries and check the selected week. Corner gathers ingredients from the recipes and servings in that week’s meal plan, grouped by aisle. No plan means no derived grocery list.

  • Check your pantry and package sizes before buying.
  • Keep ingredient units and raw/dry/cooked notes in mind; the list reflects the recipe information you entered.
  • Check off items as you shop. Checks belong to the grocery list, not to your food log.
  • Use Copy list or the list’s text download to take a readable shopping list elsewhere.

Synthetic example: planning two servings of a recipe that uses 60 g dry oats per serving calls for 120 g dry oats. Changing the planned portions changes the derived shopping quantities, not a food entry from last week.
